Remember the original Uwell Crown? If you do, then you’ll agree with me that this was arguably the most well-received sub-ohm tank in vaping history. There’s a good reason for that “VIP” reception, though. One of them being the sturdy build quality, and the other one was the top-notch performance. However, the Crown II, which was supposed to build on that excellent reputation was a total failure, thanks to some serious design flaws.
Uwell had a difficult task of redeeming its image and prove that they’re not some one-trick-pony. They immediately came back with the Uwell Crown 3 sub-ohm tank which has received a lot of applause from the vaping space.

Design and Build Quality
The Uwell Crown 3 is made using quartz glass and stainless steel, and measures 24.5mm in diameter, 62.7mm in length. In addition to that, it has an impressive 5ml e-juice capacity. Therefore, if you don’t like those long atomizers that protrude out of your pocket, then you should go for a smaller option like the Wismec Elabo. However, if you’re ready to sacrifice pocketability for exceptional performance, then the Crown III should be your go-to option.
So it’s safe to say that the Crown 3 is a remarkably well-built sub-ohm tank. In fact, if you lay your hands on the black colored one, you’ll be amazed by the sleek look which should match with any box mod. As for the tank itself, it boasts of a solid feel. Mine has even dropped on several occasions, but I’m yet to see so much scratch on it.
The Adjustable Airflow
The Uwell Crown 3 comes with a versatile airflow system located at the tank’s bottom. You can adjust the airflow by simply turning the tank’s bottom. I realized that this unit seems to work best when all the airflow holes are opened all the way. The only downside I find is that the tank is quite long thanks to the raised airflow.
The 510 Connector
This device comes with a gorgeous and removable 510 drip tip. I would be surprised if anyone would want to replace the 510 pin that sits snug at the tank’s top. To make it better, the 510 threading is smooth and looks well-machined. Let’s just say that the whole sub-ohm tank is well-machined.
Oh, wait a minute! So you thought that the key isn’t that important, right? Well, you’re wrong because you’ll definitely need it to unlock your tank’s top cap. This should allow you to disassemble your unit for deep cleaning. On a bright note, you can still change your atomizer head without the key. I personally don’t like working with keys because they can add some unneeded complications. But that’s just me!
Despite some few design flaws, this sub-ohm tank performs pretty well when it comes to flavor intensity and vapor production thanks to its two massive coils. This shows that the Chinese manufacturer certainly learned from the Crown 2 failures.
The new coil heads, coupled with the improved airflow system really works “wonders.” That aside, you’ll get two coil heads, which features a parallel stainless steel wire as well as three massive wicking holes for keeping the cotton moist even when operating at high temperatures.
Performance and Vapor Quality
The clouds produced by this unit are large and satisfying. The flavor is also on-point as you’ll really feel the taste of any juice you vape. In short, the Crown III is undoubtedly up there with the best when it comes to clouds and flavor output.
I prefer vaping on the 0.25ohm coil, but the 0.5ohm coil is also as good. The 0.25ohm coil worked best at 90W, while the 0.5ohm coil held its own at around 75W. The vapor production is fine at the recommended wattage, but vaping at 10-20W will make a big difference because you’ll notice the vapor getting denser and warmer.
Just make sure that the bottom airflow slots are left halfway open for the best results. For more restrictive MTL (mouth to lung) vape, close the slots to at least three quarters, leaving a tiny opening on the three sides.
The 5ml tank capacity is another great feature, especially for heavy vapers. Furthermore, the tank is super simple to fill. If you fill your tank, you can vape through the whole day without those painstaking refills. I also didn’t have any issues with leaking. Overall, the vaping experience with the Uwell Crown 3 was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this sub-ohm tank to a friend.
Uwell Crown 3 Pros and Cons
• Press-fit coil feature to allow swapping of coils without emptying the tank first
• Great flavor
• The overall design is beautiful
• Comes with a spare glass
• At around $20, this vape tank is certainly pocket-friendly
• Small juice holes
• Removing the top fill cap can turn out to be a hassle
The Uwell Crown 3 was undoubtedly a big test for Uwell. They couldn’t afford any more slip-ups thanks to the deadly competition in the vaping space. Lucky enough for them, this tank meets the vaping standards set by any serious vaper out there. The design is beautiful, and the build quality is also good.
Let’s also not forget the outstanding new coils and the improved airflow system, which together deliver intense flavor and huge amounts of vapor. The only thing that I don’t like is the locking mechanism. But all in all, this powerful sub-ohm tank is one to add in your tank collection.
