Most of us are looking to upgrade our vaping experience. The best way to do so is to use a mod. The mod will provide you with enhanced features which can not only help you vape for a long time but also provide you with a whole host of other features. Today, I will speak about one such mod that is the Voopoo X217. I will share with you our Voopoo X217 review to help you understand more about it.
The Voopoo X217 is a dual battery mod. The manufacturer Woody Vapes is a credible name in the vaping industry. The battery options which you get along with it are 21700, 20700, or 18650. It comes along with a screen and has a power rating of 217W. The heart of the vaping mod is the GENE chip. The metal body of the mod makes it highly durable, and the combination of red/blue/black colors make it aesthetically appealing. The variant which I am speaking about is the purple jade color (Price: $54.95 at Element Vape).
The first feature which you will notice about the mod is the elegant finish. The carbon fiber accents, along with resin panels, provide it with the upscale finish. You cannot ignore the fire button and the center platform for the atomizer either. It is a bit larger than other mods due to the bigger batteries but is aesthetically pleasing.
Design and Construction Quality
Any mod is only good enough if it is comfortable to hold. When speaking about this mod, the oval shape, and the symmetrical design ensure that you can hold it quite easily. It is well designed, and the front-facing screen makes sure that you can operate it with ease. The center 510 pin is another advantage. It is, however, not the only mod with such a design. The mod is not that heavy either. The black carbon fiber on the sides along with resin fire button and resin back panel gives it an upscale look. The programmable LED strip on the front helps you use the mod in a much better way.
The 1.3-inch color screen is square shaped. It consists of 8 preprogrammed backgrounds. The functionality of the screen, however, is limited. You can open the battery door with the help of a latch system at the bottom. You can use the 33mm atomizer flush along with it. However, it will have a bit of overhang, and therefore, it is a good idea to go with the 30mm one. When using the mod, it is better to remove the batteries and charge them externally for quick charging.
The modes on offer are plenty like watt curve mode, temperature control mode, voltage mode, and power mode. There is no separate mode for TCR. However, in the other modes, you can set that to get an efficient vaping experience.
The multiple modes on offer, along with the big screen, make it easy for you to navigate. It is a significant upgrade from the other mods using the GENE chips.
Voopoo X217 Usage
The controls of the mod are pretty easy to understand. I will highlight them below.
- You have to click the fire button five times to turn it on or off.
- You have to go with three clicks to move to the next mode. There are three modes in total, which are Power, TC, and settings.
- You can enter the menu of the selected mode by holding + and – keys.
- Pressing the + and fire button will help you lock the chosen mode.
The controls are pretty easy to understand. Once you get the hang of the settings, you can efficiently operate the mod.
The power mode was tested using the 21700 Samsung 30T battery pair. The wattage promised was 217 watts; however; I feel that it is exaggerated. Many of the other mods using the GENE chip haven’t been able to generate high wattage either. The wattage which I could observe at the highest was 194. It did not go over 200 W. The amp rating which I got was 36 which is on the lower side. It would have been better if it was near 40. Considering that the dual 21,700 batteries were in use, it is a bit low. The wattage increment of the mod is 1W.
One thing, however, which you cannot take away from it is that it did not heat up during the testing phase. The accuracy, however, is not that great, especially over 100 W. The watt curve mode of this mod is a better option if you’re looking for accuracy. Since; there is little competition in the dual 21,700 mod category, the performance is acceptable as it has adequate accuracy but isn’t precise.
Temperature Control Mode
For the testing of the temperature control mode, I used four different configurations. These include:
- 1 round single coil
- 1 round dual coil
- 2 fancy wire single coils
- 1 fancy wire single coil
The TCR is set at 1300 by default. The default wattage limit is 80 W. That is why; I started testing with the same. The only bit of problem is that with that limit, you will not get full 80 W. The temp control performance of this mode, however, is not good enough. At TCR of 1000 as well as TCR of 1600 and even the default setting, the temp control mode is not that efficient. With the temp settings at max, the temperature reached to 600F. It indicates that the temp control mode is not that efficient. There is dry hit protection in the mod which works pretty well. That is why, even in temp control mode, a dry hit is not a problem. However, apart from that, the temp control mode is not that efficient.
It is a good mod for power mode usage, but if you are explicitly buying it for temp control use, it might not be a good idea.
Temperature Control Mode
- Excellent build quality
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Centered 510 pin
- Watt curve mode on offer
- Compatible with three different battery options
- Easy to operate
- Comfortable to hold
- Temp control mode is not that efficient
- Not entirely accurate
- Inefficient wattage limit
The Voopoo X217 is an excellent option to go with if you’re looking for a mod with the high battery capacity. If you’re looking for a mod without overhang, this is an excellent one. The build quality and comfortable to hold design make it the right choice. However, if you are specifically looking to use the temp control mode, it might not be such a suitable variant after all. Other than that, the color screen, the watt curve mode, and the voltage mode make it a perfect choice.
