The Vuse Alto vape pod is an entry-level pod system with a 350mAh battery, a 1.1-ohm coil, and a non-refillable 1.8ml pod. The inexpensive pod utilizes ceramic wicking and is equipped with QuietDraw™ technology, a nifty feature that keeps it silent through every draw.

The Alto is considered one of the best products from Vuse, chiefly because it is easy to use and works great as a first vape pod or a backup for experienced vapers. In this review, we will cover what makes it so great for beginners and vapers on the go, as well as how it stacks up to similar pod systems.

What’s in the Kit?

The Vuse Alto ships in a basic kit containing just the pod system, a charger, and a flavor pack equipped with two pods. On the upside, this means that getting started can be quick and easy. On the downside, there’s not much room for mistakes here, because other than the e-juice pods, everything else comes as a single unit. There are no extras or spares whatsoever.

Though the Alto performs fine in most areas, Vuse could have done better in the flavor department. This is because there’s only four to choose from: rich tobacco, original, menthol, and mixed berry. You’ll also notice that the pod system comes without a user manual, but that’s more of a testament to its ease of use than an oversight from the manufacturer.

Build Quality & Design

The Vuse Alto looks and feels magnificent. Its body has perfectly rounded edges, which give it an excellent grip. It resembles a marker pen in size and shape, so it’s quite ergonomic.

The pod system has two sections, one containing the battery, and the other the pod. They link up magnetically, which is excellent because detaching them is easy. The magnetic connection is quite secure too. The device is built well enough that it won’t leak or suffer from liquid bubbles inside the pod. Beginners should have an easy time getting to know the ins and outs of the Vuse Alto.

Mouthpiece

One of the perks of using a draw-activated pod vape is that it’s easy to conserve battery power when it’s not in use. The Vuse Alto is draw-activated, which means it only turns on when you take a hit, and it automatically goes off once you’re done.

The mouthpiece is roughly the diameter of a cigarette butt. It fits comfortably between the lips. Anyone transitioning from cigarettes to vape pens will hardly feel the difference.

Pod Capacity

1.8ml of e-juice will last you between 2 to 3 days, depending on your usage, and the Vuse Alto comes with two out of the box. This is not the biggest pod capacity you’ll find, that’s for sure, but it’s decent all the same.

The pods are non-refillable. Any attempt to “hack” them and refill them manually will most likely result in leakages that can damage the battery. Besides, pod refills only cost around $13.50 per pair of pods, which should take you a week or so to go through.

Green LED Light

Since it’s draw-activated, the Vuse Alto doesn’t have any buttons on its chassis. It only has a green LED light. The green LED glows when you draw on the pod vape, and at the end of the hit, it fades back out. When the battery is low, the light will blink continuously. However, as soon as you plug it into the charger, it stops blinking and remains solid until the charge is complete, at which point it goes off completely.

It’s important to pay attention to how the light behaves because, without it, you won’t be able to tell when the device needs to be recharged.

QuietDraw™ Technology and 350mAh Battery

QuietDraw™ technology sees the Vuse Alto capable of producing quiet draws. There’s no bubbling, whistling, or popping sound as is customary with other vape pods. This makes for a distinctly quiet vaping experience.

The Vuse Alto’s battery packs a modest 350 milli-ampere-hours capacity. It can last roughly a day or a day and a half depending on your usage. It takes 70 to 80 minutes to charge to completion. What’s more, you can still vape while it charges thanks to pass-through technology and a lengthy charging cord.

It should be noted that the Alto uses a unique charger. It’s not advisable to use any other type of charger to charge it.

Why the Vuse Alto is a Beginner’s Dream

Many consider the Vuse Alto as the perfect entry-level pod kit for beginners. That’s mainly because it is so easy to use. It lacks complex features like variable wattage and temperature control, but what it lacks in performance, it makes up for in usability.

The Alto doesn’t need coil replacements or re-wicking. It doesn’t have a fire button either, because it is draw-activated. In essence, it is the perfect plug-and-play vape pod, because all you need to do is charge it, connect the pod, and draw on the mouthpiece.

Juul vs. Vuse Alto

The Juul is the closest competitor of the Vuse Alto. The two devices are quite similar, although the Alto is better in some areas. For instance, the Alto uses 1.8ml pods—the Juul can only be equipped with 0.7ml pods. Also, the Juul’s battery capacity is smaller (200mAh) compared to that of the Alto’s. It even lacks the nifty ergonomics of the Alto and instead boasts of sharp edges and crisp design.

However, when it comes to flavor choices, Juul beats the Alto, which only has four. The Juul has eight.

Is the Vuse Alto for You?

The Alto is a simple piece of tech that’s focused on providing a quality vaping experience for a very low price. It has a decent pod capacity of 1.8ml and an equally good 350mAh battery, which lasts a day on a single charge.

The pod and battery link up magnetically. The connection is secure, and they are quite easy to separate. Charging time is about one hour, and you can still vape while it charges. Meanwhile, QuietDraw™ technology gives you one of the quietest vaping experiences you will ever find.

Is it the most powerful pod system? Certainly not, but what the Alto lacks in performance, it makes up for in reliability, an excellent build, great ergonomics, and unrivaled ease of use.
